How does “censoring” of your face affect your dog?

by | Jul 21, 2020 | Uncategorised | 0 comments

How well can your dog read your emotions? And how is wearing a face mask affecting your dog?

We are looking for volunteers to participate in our study from the comfort of their own home.

The first 50 participants to complete the study will receive a free KONG dog toy as a thank you!

The study involves filming your dog’s natural reactions to emotional facial expressions displayed by yourself and additionally (for dogs who naturally watch television screens) in video clips of an unfamiliar person. There will be a short follow up questionnaire, which will take 15-20 minutes to complete.

All dog breeds welcome, however, we are particularly interested in brachycephalic or dolichocephalic dog breeds to participate, including: Pugs, Boxers, French bulldogs, English bulldogs, Bullmastiffs, Greyhounds, Saluki, Italian Greyhounds, Manchester Terriers and English toy terriers.

If you are interested in participating, please email amwest@lincoln.ac.uk for more information!

For more information and a sneak preview of the studies please see the projects page.
